IN BRIEF akzente 4/158 IN COMPARISON CAREER OPPORTUNITIES A central point of contact has now been established in Priština for Kosovars interested in studying or finding a job in Germany. At the Ger- man Infopoint for Migration, Vocational Training and Career (DIMAK), they can find out more about the labour market and legal ways of travelling to Germany. The centre also organises job application train- ing and answers specific questions at semi- nars and on Facebook. DIMAK is a useful point of contact for German companies looking for skilled workers. GIZ runs the centre on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It was established in re- sponse to the high levels of unemployment in Kosovo, especially among young people. www.dimak-kosovo.blogspot.de Digital networking Information and communication technology can support sustainable development. Studies show that, when 10 per cent more people have access to broadband internet in low-income countries, economic growth improves by almost 1.4 per cent. However, there are still marked differences in internet usage. Right addressTemporary homes REFUGEES IN UKRAINE On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Coopera- tion and Development, GIZ has provided provisional accommodation for up to 3,500 people in seven locations in Ukraine. This will serve as a temporary home for those who have fled from regions affected by civil war to other parts of the country. The ministry is now expand- ing its support and, since September, has been offering a training programme developed by GIZ at all locations. Refugees and interested citizens can learn languages and IT skills and train for careers in the services industry. Training is also offered for those who wish to start a business. In addition, a programme was launched in October to improve psychological sup- port for refugees. www.giz.de/ukraine GERMANY DENMARKBOLIVIABANGLADESH Source: ITU 2014 86.2% 96%39%9.6%
